Local author Karen Calloway will be having a holiday book sale and signing on Sunday, December 9. It will be held at the White Elephant Country Store in Strong, Maine from 9am-11am. Her picture book, After the Rain, features Bridie, a young girl who explores the natural world after a rainstorm, following her yellow ball as it leads her to animals that slither, scurry, swim and fly. The holiday book package will include After the Rain, an inflatable yellow ball, a bookmark, and suggestions for games to play with a yellow ball that encourage language arts development. Karen had a long and rewarding career in education and has created a website that includes educational activities for parents and teachers to help young readers look at the book through the lenses of math, science, and language arts.
